This is a vintage 1953 photo of the great Alberto Ascari signing autographs after his win in the 1953 running of the Nurburgring 1000 KM race.
Alberto was partnered with Giuseppe Farina for this race and the duo drove their Ferrari 340 MM (375 Plus) Vignale Spyder (S/N 0286AM) to the overall win with a staggering lead of 15 minutes over the second placed Jaguar C Type (S/N XKC 041) of Ian Stewart & Roy Salvadori.
The car survives to this day in the USA.

Vintage 1956 photo of Ferrari 860 Monza # 0628M - Olivier Gendebien - Alfonso de Portago - Nurburgring 1000 KM.
This is a vintage 1956 photo of the Ecurie Francorchamps entered (other sources say it was a factory entry) Ferrari 860 Monza of Olivier Gendebien and Alfonso de Portago en route to a... disqualifictation due to "outer assistance received" during the 1956 Nurburgring 1000 KM race.
The car is seen here on the start-finish straight while it overtakes the # 21 Porsche 550 RS of Count Woflgang Berghe von Trips and Umberto Maglioli (chassis number 38).
After this race, the car would continue its life as a 290 MM. It was crashed in 1957 and converted to the pontoon style front end that it still sports today.
It now seems to reside in the USA.

This is a vintage 1962 photo of the Scuderia Serenissima Ferrari 250 TRI 61 which was driven by Carlo Abate & Nino Vaccarella during the Nurburgring 1000 KM race.
The car crashed out of the race in lap 7.
The car has an extensive racing history and now seems to reside in the USA.
The Morgan in the foreground is the Plus 4 of Guy & Claude Savoye which finished 25th.

This is a vintage 1963 photo of the Ferrari 250GTO of Pierre Noblet which he drove to First-in-Class & 2nd overall with Jean Guichet during the Nurburgring 1000 KM race.
I believe it is Pierre Noblet in the picture but I am not entirely sure.

This is a large format vintage 1964 photo of the 330 P of Ludovico Scarfiotti & Nino Vaccarella, showing a victorious Ludovico after having won the 1964 edition of the Nurburgring 1000 KM Rennen on May 3, 1964.
The car was raced extensively in its days and now seems to reside in the USA.

Vintage 1964 Photo, Ferrari 275P S/N 0822, crashed at the Nurburgring 1000KM.
This is a vintage 1964 photo of the Ferrari 275 of John Surtees and Lorenzo Bandini after it had lost its left rear wheel while in the lead of the Nurburgring 1000 KM race.
John Surtees had first set the fastest lap in the race and the duo was leading the race, on their way to an almost certain victory when the left rear wheel became undone and made the car crash.
In the picture, you can see the car and the strange skid marks it had left on the road surface and the loose rear wheel being tucked away in the cabin.
The car was raced a couple of times more (amongst which the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans) by the factory before it ended up in private hands.
It now seems to reside in France.

The car in the foreground is the Glas 1300 GT # 14 of Pierre de Siebenthal & Hermann Windler which would crash out of the race in 70th position.

The duo would finish the race in 13th place overall and 2nd in class.
After this race the car was sold to the Ecurie Francorchamps in Belgium and now resides in Florida, USA.

Vintage 1965 photo of Ferrari 250 GTO # 4491GT & 250 GTO 64 # 4399GT - 1000 KM Nurburgring.
This is a vintage photo of TWO Ferrari's GTO in ONE shot!
It was taken during the 1965 1000KM race at the Nurburgring and shows the # 64 Ferrari 250 GTO (S/N 4491) of Peter Sutcliffe which he shared with "Lumsden" for this race and who made it to first-in-claass and 15th overall and the # 65 Ferrari 250 GTO 64 (S/N 4399) of Gordon Durham which was race by Salmon / Kerrison and who were forced to retire with engine trouble.
Both cars have an interesting history...
S/N 4399GT started its life as a "normal" 250 GTO and was rebodied to "64" shape in late 1963 by Scaglietti. It seems to reside in the UK nowadays.
S/N 4491GT also started out as a normal 250 GTO and was originally owned by David Piper who had the roofline and windscreen lowered whcih is clearly visible in this picture. It was changed back to a standard 250 GTO roofline by its current owner in the early 1980's. It now seems to reside in Italy.

The car in question was upgraded to 365 P2 configuration in early 1966 and sold on to Scuderia Filipinetti and then on to Venezuela. It was crashed heavily during the 1966 Nassau Speed Week and rebuilt in the 1990's. It now seems to reside in the USA.

This is a vintage 1976 photo of the Ronnie right after he climbed out of the Uniroyal helicopter that dropped him off at the Nurburgring for the 1976 German Grand Prix.
The race would prove a desaster for Ronnie as, after the restart caused by Niki Lauda's horrendous accident, Ronnie crahed his March Ford at Flugplatz and consequently scored no points.
